Naxos Town by AtlasVisual

Naxos Town, the capital impresses visitors with its unique beauty. It has all the characteristics of Cycladic architecture, but many monuments of different periods are noticeable upon entering the harbor. On the islet of Palatia in the harbor, there is the Portara — a doorway made of marble columns — an impressive welcome to the island of Dionysus which promises its guests an unforgettable holiday. The town is built in the middle of the west coast, in the same location as the ancient city. In the northern part of town, we find the archaeological site of Grotta, while the Venetian castle on the hill keeps the medieval atmosphere and mystery of that period alive.
