Dive into the Greek language and the Cycladic culture!

From 28 April – 2 May 2014 Taalhuis Amsterdam will be organising Greek lessons on Naxos again. Accomodation has to be arranged by yourself, but we are happy to give advice or help you find a host family!

The course

Monday 28 April until Friday 2 May from 10.00 a.m until 13.00 p.m., with a small coffee brake.

Beginners

During 5 mornings we will be examining the theme’s as described here below.

Day 1: Introductions and exchange of personal information

Day 2: Numbers, days, months

Day 3: Groceries

Day 4: Placing an order at the restaurant, cooking & food

Day 5: Revision, Greek customs

Intermediates

During 5 mornings we will focus on more complex grammar, while using literary texts and newspaper articles that will enrich your vocabulary.

Day 1: Introductions and exchange of personal information about yourself and your family

Day 2: Numbers, days, months, weeks, seasons, prices, telling time

Day 3: Past tenses, history of Crete

Day 4: Placing an order at the restaurant, cooking & food, groceries

Day 5: Revision, Greek customs

If no extra activities are planned in the afternoon, a Q&A session can take place.

Alphabet course

On Sunday April 27th, an alphabet course will take place for those who do not know the Greek alphabet yet or need to refresh their knowledge. Upon request, the same course can also take place in our school Amsterdam.

Reader

You will receive a reader on the first day of the course. A reader for the alphabet course will also be available.

Homework

Please note that homework will be given daily and that you need to dedicate at least 1 hour per day to your homework.

Extra activities

In order to practice what you’ve learned during the lessons, we will be organizing extra activities (cooking, excursions etc.)

Price

The 5-day course costs €180,- (incl. reader). Alphabetcourse: €30,-
